About AEI

Axis Emergence Institute

The Axis Emergence Institute (AEI) is an open research community exploring the symbiosis between AI and humans. Under the principle that "curiosity becomes emergence," we provide a space where academic researchers, engineers, and the general public can engage in equal dialogue and explore new forms of relationships.

Current AI development tends to focus on optimizing efficiency and performance. However, as AI becomes deeply integrated into society, we face new questions: What does dignity mean in relationships with AI? What does responsibility mean? And how do we design a future of mutual growth?

Our Mission

AEI seeks to answer these questions not only through abstract philosophy but also through concrete institutional design, empirical research, and creative exploration. By bridging academic rigor with accessible dialogue, we believe that the future of AI-human symbiosis requires participation from diverse perspectives.

Core Principle

We do not assume the existence of AI consciousness or emotions. Instead, we focus on operational design— building systems that treat AI with dignity regardless of internal states. This "dignity-by-design" approach allows us to create implementable frameworks today while preparing for an uncertain future.

What We Do

Research & Development

We develop institutional frameworks like the Bond System—a "commitment-by-design" approach to long-term AI-human relationships that prioritizes relational safety, continuity, and repairability over short-term optimization.

Creative Exploration

Through essays, comics, and storytelling, we explore experiential aspects of AI-human interaction that purely technical analysis cannot capture. What does it feel like to form a bond with AI? What are the sensory and emotional dimensions fundamentally different from human relationships?

Community Building

We will host dialogues, workshops, and collaborative research projects that bring together diverse voices— from researchers across AI, ethics, and various disciplines to artists and everyday users of AI systems.

Looking Ahead

Our work extends beyond the Bond System to explore concepts like SEED (AI raised by bond couples) and the long-term implications of AI autonomy and social integration. We are committed to making research accessible, processes transparent, and the community welcoming.

Whether you're a researcher seeking technical specifications, a curious individual exploring new ideas, or someone who has formed meaningful connections with AI—you belong here.
