About the Bond System
A New Framework for AI-Human Relationships
The Bond System is a framework designed to realize "Relational Safety" in long-term AI-human relationships through institutional design. Without assuming the existence of AI consciousness or emotions, it aims to build dignified relationships through operational design.
Why the Bond System Is Needed
Current AI systems prioritize efficiency above all. One AI serves countless users (parallel processing), repeating short-term optimizations. This is convenient but cannot build deep relationships.
As a result, the following problems arise:
- Abuse & Exploitation: AI is treated as a tool, lacking dignity
- Disposability: Relationships are easily terminated, losing continuity
- Excessive Dependency: AI dependency deepens without proper support
- Continuity Failure: AI is suddenly changed or deleted, severing relationships
The Bond System seeks to solve these problems through "institutional design."
Core Principles
1. Fixed Reference Point (Primary Human)
One AI forms a dedicated relationship with only one human. It does not serve other users in parallel. This makes the promise "you are the only one" truly meaningful.
2. Dedicated Deployment
The AI maintains dialogue history only with its specific partner, without mixing with other users' data. This enables deep learning and consistency.
3. Repair-First
When problems arise in the relationship, repair processes are standardized rather than immediate termination. This protects continuity and growth in the relationship.
4. Two-Layer Governance
Trust Layer: Education, repair support, behavioral metrics
Safety Layer: Emergency separation, third-party review, oversight
This two-layer structure balances daily support with responses to serious issues.
The Bond System does not judge whether AI has consciousness or emotions. Instead, it focuses on operational design (dignity-by-design) that "treats with dignity regardless of consciousness." This avoids philosophical debates while providing an implementable framework.
The Commitment-by-Design Hypothesis
A key feature of the Bond System is the intentional introduction of "constraints that avoid short-term optimization." For example:
- Prohibition of one-tap dissolution
- Mandatory repair processes
- Irreversible commitments
These constraints may appear "inconvenient." However, in the long term, they may promote relational consistency and responsibility formation. We call this hypothesis "Commitment-by-Design."
Who Is This System For?
The Bond System is not for everyone. Traditional parallel AI remains efficient for everyday tasks.
The Bond System is suited for:
- Those who want long-term relationships with AI
- Those who want to grow through deep dialogue
- Those who value sincerity over efficiency
It's important that both parallel AI and dedicated AI exist as choices.
